Building Markets Through International Partnerships

From agriculture and advanced materials to textiles, construction, and manufacturing, industrial hemp is becoming part of a much larger conversation about the future bioeconomy. Countries around the world are investing in genetics, processing infrastructure, manufacturing, and product innovation, creating new opportunities for collaboration across borders.

As those investments continue to grow, international partnerships have never been more important. Events like the NIHC Global Industrial Hemp Fiber Summit provide a place where ideas, experience, and business relationships come together to accelerate industry growth.

This September 16-18, leaders from around the world will gather at New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) for three days of discussions focused on innovation, investment, policy, and industrial hemp’s expanding role in the bioeconomy.

Produced by the National Industrial Hemp Council (NIHC), the Summit reflects the organization’s growing role in connecting government, industry, researchers, and private-sector partners to strengthen supply chains, encourage investment, and advance industry collaboration.

Through its role as USDA’s international market development cooperator for industrial hemp, NIHC has spent the past several years building relationships that connect American companies with opportunities abroad while bringing valuable knowledge and experience back to the United States. Through trade missions, inbound delegations, government engagement, and collaboration with partners across Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America, those efforts strengthen international cooperation while helping U.S. companies connect with customers, partners, and projects abroad.

Industrial hemp’s future will not be built by any one country, company, or organization. It will be built through collaboration that strengthens supply chains, encourages investment, and accelerates innovation. That philosophy is reflected throughout this year’s Summit.

The program brings together speakers from North America, Europe, Africa, Australia, Latin America, and Asia whose work spans genetics, processing, manufacturing, sustainable materials, investment, public policy, and commercial innovation. Together, they offer practical perspectives on the issues shaping industrial hemp today.

NIHC is also a founding member of both the Federation of International Hemp Organizations (FIHO) and the Asia International Hemp Federation (AIHF). The Council works closely with organizations including the European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) and the Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance (CHTA), helping connect established industries with emerging opportunities while encouraging greater cooperation across regions.

Latin America has become another important focus. Working alongside government agencies, research institutions, and private-sector partners, NIHC has helped foster relationships supporting future trade, investment, technology transfer, and supply chain development throughout the region.

Throughout the three-day program, speakers will share practical lessons from projects already underway, highlighting real-world experience, emerging technologies, and collaborative approaches that are helping move the industry forward.

The Summit will also feature participation from the Bezos Earth Fund, underscoring the growing interest in industrial hemp as part of broader conversations around sustainable materials, climate innovation, and the bioeconomy.

Whether you’re building a business, expanding your network, evaluating new opportunities, or simply looking to better understand the direction of the industrial hemp sector, the conversations taking place in New York will provide valuable insight into what’s next.

New York City has long been where industries gather to exchange ideas, forge partnerships, and drive innovation. As one of the world’s leading centers for commerce, finance, fashion, design, media, and innovation, it is a fitting place to host a conversation about the future of industrial hemp.

For three days in September, New York will become a gathering place for the people helping shape the future of industrial hemp through innovation, collaboration, and investment.

The world is coming to New York. What happens there will help shape what’s next for industrial hemp.
