April 2026 marks a real turning point for cannabis in Czechia. For the first time, people can legally cultivate and process cannabis under national law. That change alone makes the 9th edition of KONOPEX something different than what came before.
From April 24 to 26, the Trojhalí Karolina complex in central Ostrava will host an event shaped by that new reality. Not theoretical. Not symbolic. Legal. Practical. Grounded.
Czechia did not arrive here by accident. This change is the result of years of research, advocacy, and open public debate. The new rules are not perfect, and nobody is pretending they are. Still, adults can now legally grow and possess cannabis within defined limits, marking a clear move away from criminalization. For patients, seniors, home growers, and professionals, it reshapes everyday relationships with the plant and removes a layer of fear that never should have been there in the first place.
KONOPEX 2026 reflects that shift on the floor. More than 130 exhibitors from Czechia and abroad will present tools, products, and services spanning cultivation, post-harvest processing, extraction, medicine, food, cosmetics, and industrial applications. Visitors can expect real conversations, not hype. Practical demonstrations, not abstractions.
Education remains a core focus. Nearly 40 experts will deliver around 30 talks over three days, covering medical use, self care, cultivation, breeding, regulation, processing, food systems, and industrial applications. Next to the lecture hall, the Medical and Vapo Zone offers a calm, hands-on space where visitors can test vaporizers and speak directly with professionals about treatment options and safe use.
Accessibility is not an afterthought. Seniors and people with disabilities receive free admission, recognizing the growing role cannabis plays in health and daily life. Workshops lean toward hands-on learning, from making hemp ointments to plant propagation, extraction techniques, and hempcrete mixing. Knowledge here is meant to be used, not just absorbed.
The atmosphere balances focus with fun. Live music, workshops, competitions, a cannabis cup, and the famously intense chilli-eating contest keep things social and grounded. Cannabis culture has always been communal, and KONOPEX reflects that without trying too hard.
Hemp also takes its rightful place alongside cannabis. Long before legalization debates, hemp proved its value in textiles, paper, construction, food, automotive materials, and environmental applications. Its role in modern supply chains continues to grow, and its relevance stretches far beyond any single market category.
KONOPEX 2026 also looks forward. The current legislation is a starting point, not the end of the road. Conversations around social clubs, regulated markets, and fair access are already underway. Progress happens incrementally, and it happens faster when people can gather openly and talk honestly.
